Ophthalmology Department Announces New Appointments

Dr. Rosenberg Named to New Post in New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Ophthalmology

Steven E. Rosenberg, MDNew York, NY (March 2013) -- New York Eye and Ear Infirmary's (NYEE) Department of Ophthalmology announced the appointment of Steven E. Rosenberg, MD, as Associate Medical Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service.

A member of the full time faculty since 2006, Dr. Rosenberg is an integral part of the Pediatric Ambulatory Care Services, Microsurgical Education Center, Didactic Lecture Series and Pediatric Grand Rounds.  “Dr. Rosenberg has earned the respect and admiration of all members of the department, the residents and the entire NYEE family,” said director Lisabeth Hall, MD.

A cum laude graduate of Harvard, Dr. Rosenberg received his medical degree from The College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, completed Ophthalmology Residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, and a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship under at the James Hall Eye Center in Atlanta.   He was previously full-time in the Department of Ophthalmology, The Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

NYEE  Names New Director of Medical Student Education in Ophthalmology

Anita Gupta, MDNew York, NY (March 2013) -- Anita Gupta, MD, Assistant Director, Comprehensive Ophthalmology Service at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, has been appointed Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Ophthalmology. 

NYEE offers a highly competitive month-long elective program providing hands-on experience in clinical ophthalmology to 4th year medical students from across the US and internationally, as well as rotations to seniors from New York Medical College and residents in emergency medicine, family practice and internal medicine from the affiliated hospitals.

As a graduate of the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Dr. Gupta completed residency in Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University and fellowship in Cornea at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She continued as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami prior to joining the NYEE faculty practice. Currently, as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College, Dr. Gupta is dedicated to advancing education at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
