NEW YORK – September 2, 2014 – Following his appointment as President of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE) and Chair of Ophthalmology for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Health System in May 2014, James C. Tsai, MD, MBA, has announced new leadership roles within NYEE and the Department of Ophthalmology.
“I am excited to work with everyone at Mount Sinai and NYEE, and with the announcement of these new leadership positions, I believe we have a strong management structure that will help the hospital and department continue to thrive and grow,” said Dr. Tsai.
Michael Strauss, MD, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for NYEE. He will work with faculty and staff to ensure a high-quality, safe, and efficient environment of care, as well as collaborate with hospital and Mount Sinai Health System leadership to map NYEE’s overall clinical vision. Dr. Strauss, a practicing internist, has been on staff at NYEE since 1983, previously serving as Director of Medicine.
Paul A. Sidoti, MD, has been appointed Deputy Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Ophthalmology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Health System. He will oversee all clinical activities within the Department of Ophthalmology, system-wide, including Mount Sinai Health System’s member hospitals and satellite facilities. Dr. Sidoti had served as Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at NYEE since May 2013. Previously, he was NYEE’s Ophthalmology Residency Program Director and the Director of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Service (Outpatient Eye Department).
