Using Zix Keywords to Encrypt Email

If you are using Outlook Web Access, POP mail, or other similar methods to check your NYEE email, you will need to use special Zix keywords in the subject line of your messages in order to encrypt email and/or override encryption.

STEP 1

Log in to your NYEE email account and create a new message, as usual.

STEP 2

To encrypt the message, type the word encrypt anywhere in the subject line of the message. The following examples are all acceptable:

Subject: Important patient info (encrypt)
Subject: Important patient info encrypt
Subject: Important patient info - encrypt

OR

To override encryption, type the word override anywhere in the subject line of the message. The following examples are all acceptable:

Subject: This message does not contain patient info (override)
Subject: This message does not contain patient info override
Subject: This message does not contain patient info - override
