Formed in April 1996, the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Physician Hospital Organization, Inc.
(NYEEI PHO) is among the area's oldest and most successful specialty PHOs. The NYEEI PHO maintains contractual affiliations with most of the managed care organizations that participate in the New York area, and is positioned to facilitate the complex relationship between physicians and managed care companies.
Not only does the NYEEI PHO provide its members smooth access to managed care contracts, but through numerous business relationships we provide assistance with administrative services, as well as varied opportunities to take advantage of cost savings through group purchasing.
The NYEEI PHO was founded with the principle of maintaining an open panel for affiliated physicians of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Comprised primarily of ophthalmologists and
otolaryngologists, the NYEEI PHO also includes member physicians who specialize in internal medicine, oral and maxilofacial surgery, and podiatry.
All members of the NYEEI PHO are fully credentialed, active members of the professional staff of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. This affiliation not only brings with it the prestige of being affiliated with a world-class community and teaching institution, but the distinction of working among the finest physicians and surgeons in the world.
Members of the NYEEI PHO comprise the ophthalmology sub-specialties of Cornea and External Diseases and Refractive Surgery, Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Glaucoma,
Neuro-Ophthalmology, Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery, Pediatrics/Strabismus, Retina, and Uveitis; other areas of expertise found among NYEEI PHO ophthalmologists include Cataract Surgery, Contact Lenses and
Ultrasonagraphy.
Sub-specialties in otolaryngology include Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, General Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Oncology,
Neuro-Otology, Otology, and Pediatrics; other areas of expertise found among NYEEI PHO otolaryngologists include Cochlear Implantation, Gene Therapy, Hearing, Speech and Balance,
Laryngology, Rhinology, Skull Base Surgery and Swallowing.
General Internal Medicine is represented, as is Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery, Temporal Mandibular Joint Services, and Podiatry.
Working in one of the nation's most dynamic healthcare markets, the NYEEI PHO is well positioned to track and respond to industry trends, and more importantly, continue to help its member physicians serve patients in a continually evolving market.
