Ambulatory Care

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Language Assistance Services, provides Sign Language interpretations on-site between patients and health care providers and other staff, including consent forms; additionally provides support to the department as needed. Interpreter is alert to problematic situations (e.g. breakdowns in communication, lack of information) and suggests appropriate solutions before problems arise whenever possible. Responsible for delivering the highest quality of service; must be responsive to individuals and departments and must demonstrate a team approach. Communicates with the Coordinator to review and resolve complaints regarding to language service issues. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information as directed by HIPAA. Performs other duties as assigned. ASSISTANT PAYROLL MANAGER
Responsibilities include processing payroll on a biweekly basis, run monthly reports for internal financial reporting and process quarterly payroll tax reports in a timely and accurate manner. Prepare payroll GL batch and send to controller for monthly closing. Compilation of reports and closing of appropriate journals. Prepare W-2’s and reconciliation. Information Systems

AMBULATORY SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
Responsible for the proper functioning and use of Meditech ambulatory systems software environment, especially the physician software in our Eye and ENT clinics. Applications include Physician Documentation, Computerized Physician Order Entry, and E-prescribing, among others.  Performs systems analysis to establish needs and determine approaches to installation and enhancement of applications. Coordinate with software vendors regarding custom software and testing procedures. Create and test custom reports. Provide end user training. Bachelors Degree or higher in a related field required.  Must have minimum of 1-2 years clinical experience or healthcare IT support experience, and strong communication skills. SYSTEMS/PROJECT ANALYST
Responsible for applying the techniques of systems analysis to specific information management and computer technology issues and resolving them. This includes helping determine a department or area’s business needs, establishing how to best meet those needs, and then bringing all appropriate systems resources to bear by providing software, hardware, training, documentation, and support. Responsibilities include heavy project management, software implementation, application maintenance, user support, maintaining system documentation, programming, and designing reports. Laboratory

QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Responsible for the oversight of the Clinical Laboratory QA program; proficiency testing; instrument, method and laboratory information system validation and implementation; continuing education,; occurrence reporting, root causes analyses, corrective actions; inspection/accreditation. Oversees development/implementation of licensure/accreditation, departmental programs, initiatives, and policies/procedures. Brings issues to appropriate senior staff to address staff and space requirements. Keeps employee files and records neat and up to date. Manages validation and implementation of lab instrumentation, methods, and information systems, including participation in negotiation of contracts. Manages safety, environment of care, and infection control. Manages proficiency testing for College of American Pathologists and New York State. Subscribes to continuing education conferences directed to laboratory staff. Reviews and updates policies as needed, coordinates CAP self-inspection, completes inspection applications, and obtains copies of reference laboratory licenses annually or upon expiration. Follows up on occurrence reports, errors, accidents for the department, updates summaries of occurrence reports/performance indicators, reviews performance indicators with Medical Director on a monthly basis, retains monthly performance improvement indicators for all departments, prepares and submits QA reports, participates in relevant committees, and other duties as assigned. Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or related field required. Must have minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience. Previous laboratory supervisor experience preferred. Must possess NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. HISTOLOGY SUPERVISOR
Responsibilities include directing the operations of the Histology Laboratory by maintaining inventories of reagents and managing work flow based on clinical research workload demands. Maintaining protocols, procedure manual and quality assurance programs as required by regulatory agencies.  Evaluating and integrating new procedures into the laboratory as requested by the Director. Bachelor's Degree required. ASCP certification preferred. Minimum two years experience in a supervisory capacity in Histotechnology. At least five years experience in Histotechnology.

LAB SUPERVISOR
Responsible for directing all aspects of the clinical laboratory which includes, chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, and coagulation. Responsible for scheduling technologists so that all functions of the laboratory proceed efficiently to meet the needs of the patients and physicians of the Infirmary. Directly responsible for monitoring all quality control and quality assurance procedures. Also responsible for all new employee evaluation and training, assumes the responsibilities of the laboratory manager when that individual is not available. HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGER
Responsible for oversight of the daily operation of the Health Management Coding Department, remote and onsite. This includes providing direct supervision to the coding staff. Work in conjunction with Director in the development of coding in-service and institutional coding policies to ensure official coding guidelines and compliance. Perform coding quality reviews to validate coding and DRG appropriateness. Ensures compliance with CCI edits and medical necessary. Work with various department to reduce coding turnaround time. Ophthalmology Faculty Practice

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN – COLUMBUS CIRCLE
Responsibilities include compiling patient history, measuring visual acuity, refractometry, performing visual fields and recording patient history, according to standards established by the Infirmary. Some front desk work will also be required. Must have background in ophthalmology (JCAHPO and technical certification preferred but not required). Otolaryngology

RESEARCH COORDINATOR
Supports, facilitates and coordinates the daily ENT clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study.  Responsible for conducting clinical trials using good clinical practice under the auspices of the Principal Investigator; Writing or adopting informed consent documents; Conducting the informed consent process and ensuring compliance with the protocol; Subject recruitment; Protecting human subjects; Preparing the Institutional Review Board submissions; Coordinate and conduct patient care visits; Adverse event reporting; Preparing the case report forms (CRF);
Submitting CRFs and other data to the Sponsor as necessary and study close-out; Working with the institutional official in contract negotiations, developing a detailed cost analysis and negotiating the budget with the Sponsor. Requirements include Associates or Bachelors Degree. Minimum of 3 years of customer care or patient care experience, ability and desire to study and learn all aspects of coordinating clinical trials in Otolaryngology setting and ability to obtain necessary certificates. MEDICAL BILLER/CODER
Reviews medical records of all surgical claims for the Department, identifies the principal diagnosis, principal procedure, all diagnoses and invasive procedures, and codes them in accordance with ICD-9-CM & ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 code where necessary. Provides codes to physicians as requested. Analyzes medical records for completeness and brings deficiencies to attention of Compliance Manager. Reviews demographic information to ensure proper billing codes have been used prior to claims submissions. Consult with Department Chair, Compliance Manager, and Department Administrator regarding any issues related to DRG assignments. Consult with physicians and ancillary department regarding missing information needed for accurate assignment of codes. Maintain accurate coding information in conjunction with the Compliance Manager and by updating coding books as necessary. Requires completion of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding course and at least 5 years of billing/coding experience. Extensive related experience in a major medical center may be a substitute for completion of a formal coding course. DIRECTOR
Responsible for providing overall support, direction and guidance to clinical departments and medical staff in the review and development of quality and performance improvement goals and objectives. This will include coordination, development and integration of quality, utilization and risk management activities; ensuring compliance with federal and NYS standards and mandates; and leading, directing and facilitating NYEE’s state, Federal and Local requirements to measure, report, improve and sustain processes and performance excellence with the following: The Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, H-CAHPS, and Quality Net (CMS). Guided by the Performance Improvement Program Plan and the Infirmary’s strategic goals, you will also foster and maintain collaborative relationships with all clinical and non-clinical departments, external agencies, insurers and stakeholders related to quality and performance initiatives. Coordinating, overseeing, integrating data collection and analysis; reporting improvement activities; and ensuring consistent and timely follow up in order to create a highly reliable organization will also be part of your responsibilities. This position requires at least 8 years of healthcare experience with an emphasis on Quality Improvement, Utilization and Risk Management; 5 years must include experience in a supervisory role. A nursing/clinical background and knowledge of The Joint Commission and New York State Department of Health (TJC/NYDOH) standards are required. Knowledge of CMS (Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services) is also required; Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology experience preferred. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Responsible for promoting and supporting systems and processes to achieve high quality, safe, cost-effective healthcare with the integration of utilization, quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance. SLEEP CENTER TECHNICIAN
Responsibilities include demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
