Use of Curcumin as a Chemopreventive Agent

 

Principal Investigator: Stimson Schantz, M.D.

Objective: To demonstrate the feasibility and compliance of investigators and study participants in population based clinical trials in high risk regions for oral cancer internationally.

Overview: This project utilizes tumor DNA to perform a comparative analysis of cancer to normal tissue. Following polymerase chain reaction amplification of tumor DNA, cancers are assessed for the loss or gain of chromosomal regions. The relationship of these alterations to clinical characteristics of the patient are assessed. Co-Investigator is Anil d’Cruz, MD.
