Dr. Li was trained in otolaryngology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He also has a background in engineering, with a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. Dr. Li's research interest include electromyography of laryngeal and facial muscles. His current research project involves applying the technology of quadrifilar electromyographic technique to facial paralysis. Dr. Li currently has research funding from the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program.

Rick Roark, Ph.D.

Dr. Roark is trained in the areas of electrical, biomedical and computer engineering and mathematics. Dr. Roark's research interest include electromyography of laryngeal and facial muscles, digital signal processing of biometric signals, and quantification of voice and speech. He has pioneered precepts in Otolaryngology research that include the use of time-frequency and wavelet transforms for EMG analysis, pattern signature extraction, and the technology of Vector Laryngeal EMG. Dr. Roark's research has received funding from the NIH, NSF, corporate sponsors, and philanthropists. He serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering and on the Editorial Board of Journal of Voice.

Anthony Sclafani, M.D.

Dr. Sclafani has focused his research on expanding our understanding of synthetic facial implants and acellular human dermal grafts. These topics, together with research on healing periosteum, enhance our knowledge of wound healing. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, and has presented his work at regional, national and international medical meetings. Dr. Sclafani has been awarded both the Sir Harold Delf Gillies Award and the Ira Tresley Research Award by the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for excellence in research. He has received over $300,000 in research funding in the past 5 years. He is a senior associate editor of Facial Plastic Surgery and serves on the editorial board of Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America.

Dr. Yu was trained in medicine, public health, and biostatistics. He also received a one-year post-doctoral fellowship in epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Yu had cooperative cancer research projects with Harvard University. As Co-Principal Investigator, he also cooperates with UCLA for an NCI-granted project on stomach cancer. Dr. Yu is Head of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Service at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at New York Medical College. His current research interests are in the areas of clinical epidemiology, health services research, and in applications of a variety of national databases on health care and disease registry that support these and other research projects.
