Otology and Neuro-otology

Currently more than 20% of the otologists in New York State are affiliated with The NewYork Eye and Ear Infirmary’s Ear Institute. The Ear Institute provides collaboration of the otologists, audiologists, deaf educators, and physical therapists for patient care. Specializations include care of chronic ear disease including hearing loss, cochlear implantation, dizziness, tinnitus, intra cranial tumors and facial nerve disorders. Our advanced otologic and vestibular diagnostic labs assist physicians in treatment. The Ear Institute also houses one of the largest Cochlear Implant Centers in the country. Specific procedures include:

• Cochlear implantation
• Instillation of medication into the middle ear for vertigo and hearing loss
• Stapes surgery for otosclerosis
• Acoustic neuromas
• Mastoid surgery for middle ear mastoid diseases
• Reconstructive ear surgery for hearing impairment
