Ambulatory Care

SIGN LANGUAGE MEDICAL INTERPRETER
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Language Services Department, provides Sign Language interpretations on-site between patients and health care providers and other staff, including consent forms; additionally provides support to the department as needed. Interpreter is alert to problematic situations (e.g. breakdowns in communication, lack of information) and suggests appropriate solutions before problems arise whenever possible. Responsible for delivering the highest quality of service; must be responsive to individuals and departments and must demonstrate a team approach. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information as directed by HIPAA. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements are a minimum of an Associate’s Degree; Nationally Certified by the Nationally Certified by the RID (registry for the Deaf) required: preferably both CI & CT certification, or any subsequent equivalent of certification released after CI & CT certifications. DIRECTOR OF INFECTION PREVENTION PROGRAM/EMPLOYEE HEALTH SERVICE
Responsible for overseeing all aspects on the Infection Prevention/Control Program, in collaboration with employee health services manager. Initiates implements, monitors and evaluates Infection Prevention standards throughout The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary; consistented with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. RECEPTIONIST
Responsibilities include answering and screening phone calls; scheduling appointments; greeting patients; obtains and processes necessary information regarding appointments and cancellations. LASER DEPARTMENT SURGICAL COORDINATOR II

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling inpatient and ambulatory surgeries (both adult and pediatric), procedures and follow-up appointments for patients.  This person obtains pre-authorizations for procedures and diagnostic tests as requested by the physician. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the coordination of all OR surgeries and procedures. Verifies patient demographics and obtains pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures. Records hospital reservation and pre-admit data in hospital Meditech system and Arranges patient pre-testing with appropriate departments and is responsible for obtaining patient medical clearance. Serves as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling, etc. Collects, Faxes and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries. Schedules post-operative follow-up visits with providers. Trains and mentors other Surgical Scheduling Coordinator(s) or less senior staff within the department. Performs other related duties as assigned by Department head. PRACTICE COORDINATOR
Oversee the day to day operations of Ophthalmology, ENT and Plastic/Cosmetic ambulatory care services and surgical scheduling for Ophthalmology and ENT surgery including pre authorization process. Responsible for supervising the management of provider appointment templates.Assist Division Director, managers, physicians and nursing staff in the increase efficiency. Recommend, implement and evaluate processes designed to improve facility billing capability and increase revenue. Serve as a liaison to Medical Records Coding Manager for issues related to documentation that coders have identified in coding visits. Monitor chart reconciliation process to ensure that all charts are returned Medical Records. Responsible for monitoring the time of the non-clinical staff and for disciplining staff as needed.Performs performance evaluation on non-clinical staff in in general ophthalmology and otolaryngology.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare management or business required, Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in the area related to specified duties and responsibilities. Strong verbal, written and communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal Skills with focus on customer service required. Computer proficiency and knowledge of excel required.

HOUSEKEEPING WORKER
Responsible for keeping hospital facilities and equipment clean and orderly according to Joint Commission standards and following Infection Control protocol. Duties shall include, but not limited to, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and waxing floors, trash collection, snow removal and other related duties. DIETITIAN

Laboratory

LAB TECHNOLOGIST
Responsible for performing laboratory tests pursuant to established and approved protocols.  Maintenance of equipment and records.  Performing quality assurance activities related to test performance.  Monitoring quality control procedures, and performing tests requiring special scientific skills.  Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with 1+ years of experience and/or relevant training or an A.A.S. SUPERVISOR-MICROBIOLOGY
Responsible for the overall supervision of the Microbiology Department, which includes, Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Parasitology, Immunology and Serology. Position entails Isolation and identifying bacterial, viral and fungal organisms. Also responsible for serological testing and aids physicians in the infections by performing antimicrobial testing. Troubleshoots instrument malfunction and correct problems whenever possible. Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or Medical Technology. Six years of experience or both in specialty areas of service responsibility. Registered with the New York State Department of Health. The Microbiologist will exercise discretion regarding clinical information processed through the Department, which may be provided to or reported, by the laboratories in order to maintain confidentiality. LABORATORY MANAGER
Responsible for operational, technical, regulatory, financial, and interdepartmental affairs of the Clinical Laboratory. Acts in the absence of the Laboratory Director within documented, delegated functions. Supervises laboratory staff, which incorporates supervisors, technologists, clerical staff and technical aides. Ensures that tests are performed in accordance laboratory policies and procedures, and that results are valid, accurate, and timely. Prepares the laboratory for compliance with the stringent requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies (e.g. College of American Pathologists, New York State Department of Health). Performs other duties as assigned.  Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or Medical Technology required (Master’s Degree preferred).  Minimum of 6 years’ related experience required including supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory.  NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license along with current registration required. Must meet all the requirements of Part 58 of 10NYCRR, 58-1.4, Laboratory Supervisor. QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Responsible for the oversight of the Clinical Laboratory QA program; proficiency testing; instrument, method and laboratory information system validation and implementation; continuing education,; occurrence reporting, root causes analyses, corrective actions; inspection/accreditation. Oversees development/implementation of licensure/accreditation, departmental programs, initiatives, and policies/procedures. Brings issues to appropriate senior staff to address staff and space requirements. Keeps employee files and records neat and up to date. Manages validation and implementation of lab instrumentation, methods, and information systems, including participation in negotiation of contracts. Manages safety, environment of care, and infection control. Manages proficiency testing for College of American Pathologists and New York State. Subscribes to continuing education conferences directed to laboratory staff. Reviews and updates policies as needed, coordinates CAP self-inspection, completes inspection applications, and obtains copies of reference laboratory licenses annually or upon expiration. Follows up on occurrence reports, errors, accidents for the department, updates summaries of occurrence reports/performance indicators, reviews performance indicators with Medical Director on a monthly basis, retains monthly performance improvement indicators for all departments, prepares and submits QA reports, participates in relevant committees, and other duties as assigned. Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or related field required. Must have minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience. Previous laboratory supervisor experience preferred. Must possess NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. HISTOLOGY SUPERVISOR
Responsibilities include directing the operations of the Histology Laboratory by maintaining inventories of reagents and managing work flow based on clinical research workload demands. Maintaining protocols, procedure manual and quality assurance programs as required by regulatory agencies.  Evaluating and integrating new procedures into the laboratory as requested by the Director. Quality Assurance


CLINICAL MANAGER
Review all pre-admission clinical documentation for inpatient and ambulatory surgery cases to ensure that documentation complies with NYEE rules and regulations. Communicate documentation deficiencies to physician offices; track and monitor these deficiencies for appropriate internal reporting. Review in-house census for patients in-house over 48 hours to ensure appropriate authorizations for continued admission coverage. Responsible for administering Medicare Advanced Beneficiary Notification as needed for patients. Develop a clinical documentation review process and enhance clinical documentation with Medical Records Department input. Review of surgical cases utilizing implants, high cost drugs, or other specialty items to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Handle monthly case audits. Plant Operations

MECHANIC
Troubleshoot and repair of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing and electrical systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, door hardware, light carpentry, grounds equipment and HVAC. Clean, lubricate and service a wide variety of pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic devices. Assist with installation and modification of building equipment systems. Respond immediately to emergency situations. Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions. Sleep Center

SLEEP CENTER TECHNICIAN
Responsibilities include demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. SLEEP CENTER INTERPRETER
CHINESE TRANSLATOR - Bilingual (English / Mandarin and/or Cantonese)
Candidate will be on-site in the Sleep Center to interpret for our Chinese-speaking patients. Translator will be notified approximately 3 weeks in advance whenever possible.

Volunteer Services

DIRECTOR
Plans, coordinates and directs the operation of the department. Devise recruitment methods that will foster the growth of the volunteer program. Interview prospective volunteers; assess their skills and appropriate-ness for work and approve for services. Ensure effective delivery of hospital wide support services to staff, patients and their families. Develop goals and evaluate volunteer performances with supervisors; ensure professionalism and efficiency of volunteer’s services. Interact with community local schools, colleges, churches and agencies for prospective volunteers. Volunteer as a chairperson of the employee activity committee to bring programs and events to build employee morale. Act as a chairperson of the United Way Campaign, coordinate blood drives and fundraising events for cancer. Volunteer to assist the office of development and public relations with fundraising activities. Bachelor’s degree required. Extensive experience in the field of volunteerism. FULL-TIME POSITION

Social Work

SOCIAL WORKER
Social Worker to follow patients through the continuum of care providing psychosocial services to patients and families.
Responsibilities: -Conducts pre-admission evaluations-Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide counseling and coordinate discharge planning -Recruits for and facilitates support group activities -Participates in performance improvement initiatives and program development -Attends Head and Neck Cancer Patient Case Conferences and Discharge Planning meetings
Requirements: LMSW required (LCSW preferred) Minimum of one year of experience in an inpatient/ambulatory care setting required. Computer proficiency. SIX MONTH POSTION FULL - TIME POSITION

SOCIAL WORKER
Temporary Part Time Flexible Hours Should be available some evenings and an occasional weekend Social worker to recruit for and initiate support groups for patients with chronic illness
Responsibilities: -Monthly planning and organization of in-person support groups which includes setting agendas for discussion and arranging guest lecturers-Weekly maintenance of an online support group –
Create opportunities for expansion of the program
Requirements:-LMSW required (LCSW preferred) - Minimum of one year of experience in leading support groups in a health care setting required -Computer proficiency. TEMPORARY PART TIME FLEXIBLE HOURS
