New York, NY (July 2013) -- The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Institute for Continuing Medical Education (ICME) has received full accreditation with commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), a nonprofit corporation responsible for accrediting US institutions that offer CME to physicians and other health care professionals. Accreditation with Commendation awards a six- instead of four-year accreditation period, and affords the accredited provider the honor of using the ACCME emblem on its hospital website and all accredited CME materials.
"This is an outstanding achievement, providing us with the longest review cycle available," said J. Robert Rosenthal, MD, Sr. VP Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Kimberly Corbin, CCMEP, Director of the NYEEI ICME said "I thank the many departments and staff who contributed valuable material that was incorporated into our self study report during the exhaustive reaccreditation process for their efforts and support."
