New York, NY (June 2013) — Anita Gupta, MD has been appointed Ophthalmology Residency Program Director and Director of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Service at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She succeeds Paul A. Sidoti, MD, who was named chair of the department. Dr. Gupta had been serving as director of Medical Student Education and assistant director of the comprehensive ophthalmology service, and has been an active participant in the development of the resident curriculum and training protocols at NYEE.
A graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, Dr. Gupta completed residency in ophthalmology at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University Medical Center, and fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. She has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, and received a number of research and teaching awards.
