NEW YORK, NY (February 2012) -- Joseph B. Walsh, MD, FACS, FRCOphth, Professor and Chair, Department of Ophthalmology, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York Medical College, The Belinda Bingham Pierce & Gerald G. Pierce Distinguished Chair of Ophthalmology—who began his career as an eye resident at NYEE in 1970—is now retiring as Chairman after 23 years of service.
Under Dr. Walsh’s leadership, New York Eye and Ear has evolved into an internationally-recognized center of excellence for advanced ophthalmology diagnosis and treatment; a preeminent teaching nexus for the training of residents, fellows and medical students from around the world; and an innovative center for ophthalmology research and education.
