Vestibular Rehabilitation Center Adds Early Intervention Services

New York, NY (June 2011) -- The Vestibular Rehabilitation Center is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Hearing and Learning Center at the Ear Institute. In order to provide more comprehensive service, the Vestibular Rehabilitation Center will now perform Physical Therapy Evaluations for children receiving Early Intervention services through the Hearing and Learning Center.

Although participation in the Early Intervention program is new, the Vestibular Rehabilitation Center has historically provided vestibular screening for pediatric patients and consultative input for children receiving physical therapy at school or in the home.

The Vestibular Rehabilitation Center is comprised of a select group of highly specialized Physical Therapists trained in the assessment and treatment of all individuals with vestibular disorders.  Skilled treatment is also available for patients of all ages with generalized disequilibrium, dizziness arising from head trauma, stroke, cervical spine dysfunction, and movement disorders.  Our team provides physical therapy for individuals with facial nerve paralysis and is an integral member of the Facial Paralysis and Rehabilitation Center.

Our therapists have advanced degrees in the field, specialty certification, and all have been certificated in Vestibular Rehabilitation by the American Physical Therapy Association.  In addition to patient care, our department is active in physical therapy student education and resident education.

The Vestibular Rehabilitation Center is part of NYEE’s comprehensive Ear Institute, which is composed of several key divisions of subspecialty services and staff in Otology/ Neurotology, Hearing & Learning, Cochlear Implants, Hearing & Balance Disorders, and clinical and basic science research.

The Vestibular Rehabilitation Center is located at 380 Second Avenue at 22nd Street. It is open Monday through Friday, with early and late appointments available.  For appointments, please call 646-438-7804.  You can also fax referrals to 646-438-7809.
