New York Eye and Ear Infirmary To Hold Voice Screening for Professional Singers

Voice Day is April 16, 2009Applications Now Being Accepted

New York, NY (March 2011) -- Every year on April 16, otolaryngologists (ear-nose-throat specialists) and other voice health professionals worldwide join together to recognize World Voice Day. World Voice Day encourages men and women, young and old, to assess their vocal health and take action to improve or maintain good voice habits.

In observance of the event, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in partnership with MusiCares and KayPentax, has scheduled its fourth annual voice screening professional singers.

The goal of the screening is to help voice professionals sing at their optimal level at all times, without developing voice disorders that can affect their careers. Scheduled services include the following:

Participating Specialists

Two leaders in otolaryngology: Michael Pitman, MD - an internationally recognized expert in care of the professional voice, voice conservation and restoration - and Amy Lebowitz, MS, CCC-SLP - a speech and language pathologist and singing voice specialist - will provide an individualized comprehensive physical examination and video stroboscopy to diagnose vocal problems and assess injury risk. They will also provide practical tips for maintaining optimal vocal health.

Eligibility:  *Pre-screening by MusiCares®
