Second Avenue Entrance to North Building is Temporarily Closed

NEW YORK, NY (October 30, 2009) -- As part of the our Facilities Modernization Program to enhance your health care experience while visiting The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, renovation of the Hospital’s West Entrance of the North Building on Second Avenue will begin Friday, October 30, 2009.  This work will require complete closure of the West Entrance of the North Building for five weeks. 

While we will be making every effort minimize the impact on patients, visitors and our staff, we kindly request that patients and visitors anticipate the following temporary changes in our operation.

  • During the period from October 30th through December 6th, the Hospital’s West Entrance on 2nd Avenue to the North Building only will be closed to all traffic except emergency egress made necessary in the event of a hospital emergency.
  • All access in and out of the North Building will be directed through the Main Entrance on 14th Street.
  • All Transportation services and those people waiting to be picked up from the Hospital will also be directed to use the waiting area in the Main Lobby on 14th Street.
  • During construction, all services provide in or adjacent to the West Lobby will remain in full operation at all times.  This includes the Waiting Area, Pharmacy, and Registration.

When planning your visit, please allow a little extra time for any minor delays which may occur.

Entrance at to the South Building at 218 Second Avenue will remain open during regular weekday business hours.
