New Members of Executive Team Welcomed

New York, NY (November 2007) -- The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary’s President & CEO, D. McWilliams Kessler, has appointed two senior executives to his team to "bolster business development and open new avenues of philanthropy," he said in making the announcements.

Allan FineAllan Fine holds the newly created position of VP for Strategy and Business Development. He has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare strategy and marketing, most recently with Healthios, Inc. in Northbrook IL, where he was a managing director during 2007, and at Navigant Consulting, where he was a director from 2002 to 2006.

Charles FigliozziCharles Figliozzi will become New York Eye & Ear’s Vice President for Finance and CFO beginning on November 26, 2007. He is a 23-year veteran of Healthcare finance and accounting, most recently as acting chief financial officer and treasurer at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he also served as vice president of finance administration from 2004 to 2007.

Prior to his position as managing director of Healthios, a merchant banking boutique providing investment banking and strategic advisory services in the healthcare industry, Mr. Fine was a director of the life sciences and healthcare practice at Navigant Consulting where he worked with hospitals and health care systems as well as pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device manufacturers. He was a vice president at CHPS Consulting in Chicago, IL (2000-2002), which was acquired by Navigant Consulting in 2002; a senior manager in the marketing, product development and health care strategy practice at Ernst & Young LLP in Chicago (1995-1999); and VP and Director of the Center for Managed Care at Quorum Health Resources in Chicago (1992-1995).

Mr. Fine has an MBA degree in Health Care Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College – Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, and a BBA degree, Cum Laude, in Marketing from Temple University, Philadelphia.

Mr. Figliozzi, a CPA, has a broad range of expertise, including financial reporting and analysis, audit, taxes, work pertaining to professional corporations and training. Prior to the Brooklyn Hospital Center he was the corporate director of finance at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (1997-2004) and assistant controller of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (1995-1997). In addition, Mr. Figliozzi has over 10 years experience in Public Accounting as part of the audit team specializing in Healthcare for the accounting firms of KPMG, Pannell, Kerr, Forster and Figliozzi and Company. He has a BS degree in accounting from the School of Professional Accountancy at C.W. Post, Long Island University.

The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, the oldest specialty hospital in the Western Hemisphere, is an affiliated teaching hospital for the New York Medical College. It performs more than 20,000 surgical procedures per year and sees approximately 142,000 outpatient visits annually in one of the nation’s most extensive systems of eye, ear, nose and throat clinics.
