New York, NY (May 2007) -- Robert Latkany, MD, a cornea specialist and director of the Dry Eye Clinic at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, has written a book for the general public, The Dry Eye Remedy: Complete Guide to Restoring the Health & Beauty of Your Eyes (216 pp, Hatherleigh Press, 2007).
According to Dr. Latkany, approximately 77 million Americans suffer from dry eye (also known as dysfunctional tear syndrome), which may start as a minor irritation but can develop into a deeper problem affecting vision and appearance.
The book describes a range of options from over-the-counter treatments, changes in environment and nutrition, medication, punctual plugs and other methods of retaining tears, to surgical intervention.
New York, NY (May 2007) -- Two of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary’s medical staff, Robert C. Della Rocca, MD, Professor and Director of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Steven D. Schaefer, MD, Professor and Chair of Otolaryngology, have jointly published (with Professor Rainer Weber from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany) an Atlas Of Lacrimal Surgery.
Drs. Della Rocca and Schaefer are internationally known for their many contributions to the areas of oculoplastic and endoscopic minimally invasive surgery of the sinuses and skull base, respectively. This is the fourth book for Dr. Della Rocca and the sixth for Dr. Schaefer, and is unique as a cooperative undertaking by ophthalmologists and otolaryngologists. Stated Dr. Schaefer, “it is appropriate that in the hospital which began Eye and ENT surgery in America such a cooperative undertaking came to fruition.”
