New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Vocal Experts Offer Self-Test for World Voice Day

New York, NY (April 2007) -- April 16 is World Voice Day. Because it falls at the same time as the due date for your federal taxes, this year’s theme is “Don’t Tax Your Voice,” to help you to consider ways to preserve and protect your voice and avoid developing voice disorders.

“People take their voices for granted,” said Michael Pitman, MD, director of Laryngology and the Voice and Swallowing Institute. “It only takes 5 minutes to answer the following questions to check your vocal fitness.”

On a piece of paper, write down the appropriate response and then tally the total score when you are finished.

Within the last MONTH, how did the following problems affect you?

0 = No Problem  4 = Severe Problem
