The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Is Co-Sponsor of Conference on Organ and Eye Donations

New York, NY (September 2005) -- The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Eye Bank for Sight Restoration are holding a first-of-its-kind colloquium on the future of organ, tissue and eye transplantation and donation on Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1, at the Embassy Suites Hotel. 

Entitled "An Eye on the Future," the conference will have 30 speakers in six sessions, who will address the cultural, ethical, legal and medical issues regarding anatomical donation. It has been approved for 11 Category 1 CME credits from NYEEI and 12.5 CEU credits from the Eye Bank Association of America. 

Cochairs for the colloquium are Wing Chu, MD, a corneal surgeon affiliated with NYEEI and Medical Director of the Eye Bank; Mel Immergut, Chairman of Millbank Tweed, Hadley & McCloy; and Eric A. Rose, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Columbia University Medical Center.
