185th Anniversary Year Gala

On November 10, 2005, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will celebrate its 185th Anniversary Year with the "Thanks for Giving" Ball at The Pierre in New York City.
The festive event will begin at 6:00 PM
with cocktails and a silent auction followed by gourmet dinner cuisine at
7:30 PM. The evening will also feature a brief formal program with Master of Ceremonies, WABC-TV’s Scott Clark,
and dancing to the music of Roger Thorpe and The Sammy Kaye Orchestra, and Be Our Guest Entertainment featuring Mel Witschi.

At the gala, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will present Judith C. Zesiger with the Margaret Loeb Kempner Humanitarian Award. Appointed to The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary's Board of Directors in 1978, Mrs. Zesiger served a five-year term as President of the Board from 1982-1987. Since 1997, she has served as the Board’s Vice Chair. Through the years, she has displayed an unwavering commitment to The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, its staff and its patients.

The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will also honor Robert Ritch, MD with the 2005 John Kearney Rodgers Physician of the Year Award. Dr. Ritch is Surgeon Director and Chief of the Glaucoma Service at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, as well as Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at New York Medical College.
"Dr. Ritch has devoted his illustrious career to broadening our understanding of the nature of glaucoma and bringing to the field key innovations in the medical, laser, and surgical treatment of glaucoma," says Joseph P. Corcoran, President and Chief Executive Officer. "He is a most deserving recipient of this award."
In addition, the William Few Corporate Award will be presented to
Ronald L. Zarrella, chairman and CEO of Bausch & Lomb, a company which is a longtime friend of The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and key to the field of ophthalmology. The Bausch & Lomb name is one of the
best known and most respected healthcare brands in the world.

Proceeds from the black tie event will benefit the Glaucoma Research Fund. Tables are $15,000, $10,000, $8,000 and $7,500, with special Gold Circle Tables available at $25,000. All donors of $10,000 or more will be listed as Vice Chairmen in the printed program. Commemorative journal listings in all price ranges are also available.
