Surgical Suite Initiative
Currently underway, NYEE’s $13 million The Surgical Suite Initiative is the first major renovation and expansion in more than forty years of NYEE’s surgical facilities. It is transforming the way NYEE provides patient care and help meet ever-escalating community demand for the full spectrum of NYEE surgical specialties in ophthalmology, otolaryngology and plastic and reconstructive surgery. In the last five years, NYEE surgical volume has increased twenty-three percent. This demand is sure to grow, as changes in New York City’s medical environment continue to reduce patient options for critical care.
Our new, state-of- the-art 3,600 square foot Perianesthesia Care Unit (PACU) recently opened, providing expanded space and privacy for our pediatric and adult patients. The second phase of the initiative – two new operating rooms- are scheduled to open by January 2013. This project is integral to NYEE’s dynamic growth leading to our 200th anniversary in 2020 and the start of our third century of service.
