Translational Research

Steven McCormick, MD and Dan N. Hu, MD head the Translational Research Division and Laboratory to revolutionize the fundamental practice of ophthalmology.  Here the seeds of science are planted, carefully cultivated and selected for further study – with the ultimate goal always focused on the patient.  Current research is exploring cell to cell communication, contributing to inflammation and autoimmunity.  In addition, basic science research is looking at naturally occurring compound melatonin, known to regulate circadian rhythms, correlative role as a powerful antioxidant and its effects on protection for macular degeneration.
