Biographical SketchRobert C. Della Rocca, M.D.Chief, Oculoplastic Service Robert C. Della Rocca, M.D. graduated from Villanova and Creighton University Medical School. Following a tour of duty in Vietnam as a battalion surgeon, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He then completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic, reconstructive and Orbital Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in New York City, and at the Albany Medical Center in Albany. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Della Rocca has been in private practice in the New York area since 1974. The practice is limited to the field of Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Orbital Surgery. He has served as chief of the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery department and as Surgeon Director at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary since 1981. As director of a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Della Rocca has trained and continues to train many ophthalmologists as fellows in this specialty. Dr Della Rocca has written several comprehensive textbooks and many journal articles in the field of oculoplastic and orbital diseases and surgery. He travels extensively in the United States and abroad to teach foreign ophthalmologists about this specialty and to perform surgery in those countries where the specialty of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery is not readily available. |
