Specialty: Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Eye

Dr. Jessica Lattman is an oculoplastic surgeon with a highly focused specialization in cosmetic surgery of the eyes and the surrounding areas of the face. She is dedicated to giving you the highest quality of care in an individualized manner. In a supportive and understanding environment, Dr. Lattman will guide you to solutions to best help achieve your goals.

Her training, at the forefront of oculoplastic surgery, enables her to use the most effective techniques available today. She will select from the multitude of innovative cosmetic procedures that have been introduced in the past five years in order to give you long lasting, natural results.

Dr. Lattman has extensive experience performing the following procedures:

  • Blepharoplasty
  • Forehead Lift
  • Botox
  • Injectable Fillers
  • Laser Skin Resurfacing
  • Microdermabrasion

    BLEPHAROPLASTY
Cosmetic eyelid surgery restores the shape of your eyes by eliminating puffy bags and sagging eyelids. In many cases this condition is inherited and may appear at a relatively young age.

Dr. Lattman uses the carbon dioxide laser to perform blepharoplasty. This technique has revolutionized cosmetic surgery of the eyelids because the laser seals blood vessels so that healing time is reduced and there is less bruising. Blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia. Most patients return to work in less than one week.

Blepharoplasty of the lower eyelids can be done using a "no-stich" technique, where the fatty pouches are removed without any incisions in the skin. This procedure can be done alone or combined with resurfacing of the lower eyelid skin, which smoothes fine wrinkles, further improving the surgical results.

In some patients, the excess upper eyelid skin is accompanied by drooping of the eyelid itself. The medical term for this condition is "Ptosis". This drooping often causes visual obstruction which can be a problem when driving or crossing the street. Dr. Lattman’s advanced training in reconstructive eyelid surgery allows her to reposition your eyelids by tightening the muscle which opens the eye. If visual obstruction is present, the upper eyelid repair may be covered by your medical insurance.

    FOREHEAD LIFT
An endoscopic brow lift is used to treat drooping eyebrows and upper lids as well as to smooth frown lines in the brow and forehead area. Untreated, this condition can produce a sleepy or angry appearance. In these cases, simple eyelid surgery will not completely correct the problem. To achieve a more natural, youthful look, repositioning of the eyebrows is necessary.

The endoscopic brow lift is performed under local anesthesia through small incisions behind the hairline. This approach represents a significant advance when compared to the traditional "open" method. The benefits include smaller incisions, less bruising, less hair loss, minimal numbness and quicker recovery.

    BOTOX
Botox is a highly rewarding approach to wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) and lines in the forehead (frown lines). When strategically injected into the muscles that create these wrinkles, the muscle relaxes and the unsightly lines fade. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing facial expression to remain intact.

Botox injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many ophthalmologic and neurologic disorders. Because of its reliable track record, Botox has quickly become a popular tool for cosmetic use. Many patients feel comfortable with Botox as their introduction to cosmetic surgery because it is so simple.

Your cosmetic treatment with Botox takes only minutes, requires no anesthesia, and you can resume normal activities immediately. The effect of the injections lasts from three to six months, so you will need to undergo treatment two to four times a year.

    INJECTABLE FILLERS (COLLAGEN, DERMOLOGEN, FAT)
Injectable treatments for facial rejuvenation are known as fillers. These compounds can smooth your skin and improve your appearance by plumping up aging lines and contour depressions. Dr. Lattman treats naso-labial folds, frown lines, lines around the mouth, depressed scars and thinning lips with these materials.

In this category Dr. Lattman uses Dermologen, Collagen, or transfers your own fat cells. These treatments are done in the office.

    LASER SKIN RESURFACING
Laser skin resurfacing is the newest generation of tools used to treat sundamaged skin, wrinkles, scars and skin lesions. The laser removes the outer layers of skin stimulating the growth of new skin and collagen. The result is rejuvenated skin with a smoother, younger appearance.

Dr. Lattman will evaluate your skin and determine which laser, the Erbium or the Carbon dioxide, should give you the best results. Recovery time after resurfacing is from one to two weeks depending on which laser is used. However, skin redness can persist for several months.

Skin resurfacing is done using local anesthesia, usually in an outpatient setting.

    MICRODERMABRASION
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the younger, tighter more radiant skin underneath. Common conditions treated include: blackheads, fine wrinkles, sun damaged skin, superficial age spots.

The average treatment takes about 30 minutes and is done in the office. This comprehensive skin care can create an immediate improvement in your appearance. If applied through a course of weekly sessions, fine lines, age spots, and acne scars can dramatically improve.
