York, NY (Spring 2003) -- For the second year in a row, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will play a role in the Sybase Big Apple Classic, presented by Lincoln Mercury. This year, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary’s role has been upgraded to Official Charity. In 2002, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary served as Official Hospital of this prestigious LPGA event.
The Big Apple Classic features the biggest and brightest names in women’s golf competing for one of the most important titles on the LPGA tour. The event will be held July 14th-20th at the beautiful Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle.

As the Official Charity, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will receive a percentage of advance ticket sales — purchased through The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary prior to the tournament — as well as Pro-Am playing spots.
An amazing field of LPGA professionals will compete in the event, including last year’s champion Gloria Park, as well as international superstars such as Annika
Sorenstam, Juli Inkster, Karrie Webb and Laura Diaz. The event will be televised live on NBC-TV July 19th and 20th.
The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary is selling a limited number of playing spots in the Pro-Am. The spots entitle each player to a complimentary gift bag and a round of golf with an LPGA professional and celebrity.
In addition, 2-for-1 tickets are currently on sale through the Office of Development. Prices range from $15 for daily grounds passes to $95 for weekly clubhouse passes.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with a variety of duties during the week, including admissions,
leaderboards, marshals, medical van, greens reporters, standard bearers, transportation and hospitality. Volunteer applications are available in the Office of Development.
