Article
I: Name
|
|
This Association shall be known as "The Alumni Association of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary".

II: Object
|
|
The object of the Association is to promote cordial relations among its Members and to foster a loyalty
to our Alma Mater.

Article
III: Membership
|
|
Active Members
All graduate Residents of the
Infirmary who are in good professional standing are ipso facto members
of the Alumni Association. Graduates of Infirmary Clinical Fellowships of
one year duration or more receiving an Infirmary certificate are also
eligible for membership, pending final approval by the Officers. Only active
members in good standing (i.e. those who have paid their annual dues) are
entitled to vote and hold office.
Associate Members
All members of the Staff of the
Infirmary shall be eligible for membership in the Alumni Association.
They must signify their acceptance by payment of yearly dues. Associate
members are not entitled to vote or hold office.
Honorary Members
Any doctor, who by virtue of
outstanding service to the Infirmary or to medicine in general, may
be nominated by the Council. Honorary members will not be required to pay
dues.
Life Members
All members of the Alumni
Association who have been active members for five years or more
shall, at their retirement from active practice, be made Life Members, and
shall be exempt from annual dues. They shall remain entitled to vote, hold office, attend all functions,
and to receive all Alumni notices.

Article
IV: Dues
|
|
The Council shall yearly designate
the amount of dues sufficient to carry on the work of the Association.
Non-payment of dues for three consecutive years shall automatically place the
delinquent member on the inactive list; he may be reinstated upon payment of
dues.

Article
V: Officers & Duties
|
|
Officers
A. The government and management
of the Association shall be by a Council which shall include
the Officers, the last two Presidents, and any member who by virtue of meritorious
service, shall be invited by the officers.
B. At each meeting, the retiring
Council shall nominate the Officers and councilors for the following
year, which nomination shall be voted on by the members present.
Duties
The President is elected for one
year, and thereafter becomes a member of the Council for two
years. He shall preside at all meetings of the Association and Council and may
call meetings of the Council at his discretion.
The Vice-president is elected for
one year, and in the absence of the President, he shall perform
his duties.
The Secretary-treasurer is elected
for three years.

He shall keep a permanent record of the minutes of the meetings of the Association and the
Council, with the names of those present.
- He shall send a notice to each
member, two months and one month prior to the annual meeting,
and designate the time, place, or any other important announcement.
- He shall keep an active and
accurate address list of graduates and members, which with the
co-operation of the authorities of the Infirmary shall be published in their
annual report, and a copy sent to each member.
- He shall keep all money
entrusted to his care and shall make an accounting at the annual meeting
of all receipts and disbursements.

VI: Annual Meeting
|

The annual meeting shall be in the spring of the year on an evening, at an hour and place designated
by the Council.

VII: Amendments
|
|
This Constitution may be amended
at any annual meeting by a majority of the members present.
