Occlusion Therapy for Acute Optic Neuritis: A Pilot Study

This study is currently recruiting participants.

To determine if occlusion therapy for 14 days of the affected eye in patients with acute, unilateral optic neuritis will result in improved visual outcomes at 6 months.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Presence of acute unilateral optic neuritis of unknown or demyelinative origin
  • Onset of visual symptoms for < 8 day
  • Age between 18 and 46 years
  • Presence of a relative afferent pupillary defect and a visual field defect in the affected eye (perimetric mean deviation > -3.0 dB)
